One of the great features of PrestaShop is the ability to create an order directly from the back office. This can, for example, prove extremely useful when a customer wants to buy a product but is unable to do so, and you need to take control and place the order while you are in contact with the customer, by phone or by email.
To create a new order, simply click on the "Orders" menu to see the list of orders. By clicking on the "Add an order" button at the top right of the page, a page opens, with a single text field, named "Search for a customer". When you create a new order via the back office, your first task is to associate this order with a customer. Enter the first letters of their name, first name or e-mail address, and PrestaShop will display the corresponding accounts.
If the customer for whom you are creating the order does not even have an account on your store yet, you can create one on the fly: click on the "Add a new customer" button to open a window with the main details to fill in. Once the account is registered, it immediately becomes the account associated with the order.
Please note that you will also need to register the customer's addresses – a "Add a new address" button is available at the bottom of the page, in the "Addresses" section.
Click on the "Choose" button for the correct customer, and the entire order form will appear. All product additions will be made in its main section, "Cart". You can also choose to use one of the customer's previous orders, or one of their abandoned carts.
The "Search for a product" field allows you to dynamically search for products to add: enter the first few letters of the product name, and PrestaShop will display a drop-down list with the corresponding products. Choose the product, select the quantity, and click the "Add to cart" button. If the product is available in several versions, you can of course choose the desired one using the drop-down list that appears in this case.
Please note that PrestaShop indicates the remaining stock for a given product, which allows you to inform the customer that you are out of stock for this product as soon as the order form is submitted.
This page allows you to view the previous cart(s) and order(s) of this customer, if any. If it happens that you need to manage a cart that the customer cannot validate, you can use this cart for this order by clicking on the "Use" action.
If necessary, you can also grant a voucher or a cart rule for this order, and even create one on the fly by clicking on the "Add a voucher" button.
Finally, you must specify the address to which the order should be sent (and possibly billed). Here again, you can create new addresses on the fly using the "Add a new address" button.
Once you have defined the parameters of your order, you will receive a summary of your order with the option to either send an email to your customer with a payment link or directly go to the payment page if your customer agrees to give you their credit card number (as you can do during a telephone reservation).
