The Size Guide module developed by PrestaShop allows you to create and customize, in a few minutes, different design size tables for the products and categories of your choice. Ideal for online fashion, lingerie, accessories and jewelry stores, it will allow you to guide your customers in choosing their size and thus decrease the return rate of your products.
Find below all the necessary information to understand and use this module.
Creation and configuration of size guides
When you are in the Configuration tab, a "Create a new table" button appears.
When you click on it, a three-step pop-up appears:
Step 1: Choose the name and products associated with the size guide
- Choose the name of the size guide you are creating. Decline it according to the different languages of your store, by selecting the desired languages next to the name field. If you leave this field empty for one or more languages, the default language will be used.
- Select the products or categories for which you want to display this size guide. You can choose to display it for all products in your catalog, for a category, or for one or more specific products. To do this, simply click on "All products" or "Product" / "Category" and enter the items searched for in the "Add items" field.
Step 2: Creating and displaying the table
Choose the type of guide you want to display:
- Either a classic size chart
- Either an inverted size chart (you choose the value ranges corresponding to the desired measurements, the table proposes the corresponding size)
Choose the type of display you want for your size guide (a tooltip allows you to preview the display according to the type chosen):
- Directly in a dedicated block within the product page. And/or
- In a pop-up: in this case, you will need to enter the name of the button returning to the pop-up. Decline the name according to the different languages of your store, by selecting the desired languages next to the name field. If you leave the field empty for one or more languages, the default language will be used. And/or
- In "Size Finder", only available for the reversed size chart
In the case of the classic size chart, choose the type of attribute (e.g. size, shoe size, etc.) corresponding to the product (s) for which you are displaying the size guide. As soon as you have selected it, the members of this attribute are automatically displayed in a table under the configuration pop-up. Then choose the number of columns and their respective names by inserting them into the dedicated field. These columns correspond to the members you want to compare to the data of the selected attribute.
Examples of use:
- EU sizes compared to US, UK, etc. sizes.
- Standard sizes (S, M, L or 36, 38, 40) compared to different measurements (waist circumference, head circumference, chest circumference, etc.) Comparison of store sizes to standard sizes of different countries
- Comparison of the sizes of the different brands sold in the store
Separate each name with a comma, as in the following example: Column 1 Name, Column 2 Name, Column 3 Name. Then click on "Generate the table". In this example, the size table will display 3 columns associated with the different elements of the chosen attribute. Then insert the different elements of the columns you have created. You also have the option to remove certain elements of the attribute chosen from the table by clicking on the cross on the right of the corresponding line.
- In the case of the reversed size chart, in the same way, choose the desired attribute. As soon as you have selected it, the inverted table appears with the values of your attribute inside. Choose the values or ranges of values to display for your table columns and rows. Separate each value with a comma, as in the following example: Column 1 name, Column 2 name, Column 3 name and Row 1 name, Row 2 name, Row 3 name. Then click on "Generate the table". In this example, the table will display three columns and three rows. Then choose the values of your attribute inside the table corresponding to the values of the rows and columns. You also have the option to remove certain elements of the attribute chosen from the table by clicking on the cross on the right of the corresponding line.
Examples of use:
- Ranges of values for weight and size to determine the most appropriate size for customer measurements
- Value ranges for waist circumference and leg length in the case of pants
- Etc.
Step 3 – Optional content
In step 3, if you wish, add a comment (in the different languages of your store) and/or an image associated with the size guide (there is no size limit for the image,
but it will be resized in case it is too large). These will be displayed above the table.
Examples of information to be given in the comment
- Units in which information is indicated
- Tip: "How to take your measurements correctly?"
- Tip: if you are hesitating between 2 sizes / 2 sizes, take rather... Size guide given as an indication based on...
Summary table of guides created
In the Configuration tab, you can find all the guides you have created directly in the table.
This table displays the guide name information, the attribute used, the type of display chosen and the associated products. At any time, you can view the created board by clicking on Display. You can also modify, enable/disable (by default, a created guide is enabled) or delete the created tables.
Rules for displaying guides on your site
On your store, all the size guides that you have created and enabled will be displayed for the products and categories that you have chosen, according to the type of display selected (pop-up, within the page or in the size finder). Several tables can apply to the same product; in this case, the size guides are displayed in the form of tabs. These tabs allow you to view one after the other, the different size guides, from the most specific (this is the leftmost tab) to the most general.
CMS page configuration
Under the table of the created size guides, a CMS page configuration section allows you to create a page dedicated to all the configured size guides and display it on your site. To do this, click yes on "Create a CMS page for all size guides". Then fill in the following information:
- CMS page name (in the different languages of your store). This name will be displayed on your site.
- Meta CMS page description (in the different languages of your store). This allows you to improve the SEO of your page.
- Simplified URL of the CMS page (in the different languages of your store). This should normally take the name of the CMS page you have filled in, separating each word with a dash -. If you want to display meta keywords as well as additional content on your created CMS page, go to the Preferences tab > CMS sub-tab. Once the configuration is complete, in the Modules and Services tab, search for the CMS Block module and click on Configure. In the "Configure the various footer links" section, check the name of your created CMS page, and click Save to display it in the footer of your home page.
