Configuration tab
Front office: display on your site
The banner created by this Promo Banner module will be displayed on your site in the header, it remains visible on all other pages. Please also note that only one banner is allowed at a time and it will be automatically removed when the basket rule is no longer valid.
Back office: configuration of your module
First, start by inserting the name and customizing the height of your banner as well as the background color of it. Warning: only the height of the banner is configurable, your banner will always take the full length of the page.
Note: By default, the height of the banner is set to 60px, do not hesitate to test on your site to see which size is the most suitable!
To make it easier to set up your promo banner, PrestaShop offers you 3 different categories of banners. Each of them corresponds to a type of information that could be displayed on your site:
- General information: release of a new collection, featured blog post, end of stock products, etc.
- Free shipping
- Promotions / special offers
Option 1: General information
This option will allow you to display general information about your store, for example the release of a new collection, upcoming events, etc.
- Start with the text - the message you want to convey to your customers. Fill in this text in all the available languages of your store (example: Discover our new collection, Découvrez notre nouvelle collection...), as well as customize the font, color and size of it.
- You will have the option to add a call to action to your banner. You just need to add a URL (example: new collection page) to make the text clickable and add a button to attract the attention of your visitors: clicking on this text will redirect the customer to a new tab. Regarding the button, you can customize the displayed text, as well as the text color and background color of the button.
When configuring your promo banner, you have the option at any time to preview your creation which is displayed on the right side of the configuration page.
Option 2: Free shipping For this option, you can either use the Cart Rules or Carrier Preferences to create your personalized promo banners.
- Find all your rules in the Promotions > Cart Rules tab and click on the + at the top right of the page to create new ones.
- In Transport > Preferences, in the Handling section, easily modify your free shipping rules. Find more details on creating basket rules and carrier preferences below in the documentation
Cart rules
Selecting the Cart Rules option will give you access to your available (active and valid) discount coupons as of the current date. You can select the coupon you want from a drop-down list available on your module configuration page.
You can also display a timer on your banner to attract more attention from your visitors.
- If you choose to disable the timer, you will only have a text field to fill and format. We recommend filling in this text in all available languages of your store.
- If the timer is enabled, 2 text fields will be available to you. You can fill in one field or the 2 proposed text fields. Note: In all cases, the location of the timer will be adapted on the banner for better visualization.
- The formatting of the text fields, as well as the timer, is customizable according to your needs.
At any time during the configuration of your promo banner, you have the option to preview your creation which is displayed on the configuration page.
How to create a basket rule?
If you are in 1.7, click on the Catalogue tab in the column on the left of your PrestaShop Back Office, then choose Promotions.
If you are in 1.6, click on the Promotions tab > Basket Rules.
- First of all, start by filling in the general information about your card rule: what will be the name displayed on the customer's basket and on his invoice? What is the discount code?... Please note that if you do not want to generate a discount code, the discount will automatically apply to customers who have met the conditions of your rule.
- You must then define the conditions of your discount coupon: the validity period of the coupon, the minimum amount of the cart to benefit from the coupon, the quantity of available coupons, etc.
- Finally, define the type of discount you want to associate with your cart rule: is it free shipping, a discount or a gift? It is also possible for you to activate several types of discount at the same time.
When configuring your new promo banner, we advise you to check if the promotional code/coupon is properly activated before using it.
Carrier Preferences (Carrier preference) If this option is selected, you will have 3 text fields to fill in, these 3 fields correspond to key moments of a customer journey in your store:
- When the customer's basket is empty
- When the basket contains at least one item but does not yet reach the minimum threshold to benefit from the free shipping
- When the cart reaches the minimum threshold and the shipping fee is offered Compared to the 2nd scenario, you are recommended to use phrases such as "Only {{price}} {{currency}} remaining for free shipping". The tag {{price}} will update the remaining amount before reaching the minimum threshold as the customer adds items to their cart. The tag {{currency}}, on the other hand, will help convert this amount to the currency chosen by your customers.
Example: When a customer arrives on your site, the banner displays the information "Free shipping from €50". After taking a tour of your product catalog, the customer decides to add an item for €19.99
in his basket. At that time, the text on the promo banner will automatically change to "Only €30.01 remaining for free shipping". In the event that the customer's cart reaches €50, it will display the message "Congratulations! Your shipping fees are now free" on the banner. You will also have the option to customize the size, font, and color of all these text fields.
How to create a carrier preference
To create a carrier preference, go to the Shipping tab on the column located to the left of your PrestaShop Back Office, then choose Preferences.
In this tab you will have the possibility to define the application condition of your preferred carrier, for example the shipping costs offered from €50. Click Save to activate this option.
Option 3: Promotions / Special Offers
This option is based solely on the Cart rules, its configuration remains quite similar to the Free Shipping option > Cart rules with the possibility of adding a timer on the banner. The highlight of the Promotions / Special Offers option: you can add a call to action to your banner.
You just need to add a URL (from your store or an external link) to make the text clickable and add a button to attract the attention of your visitors. Regarding the button, you can customize the displayed text, as well as the text color and background color of the button.
At the end of the configuration page, you will have the option to change the status of the banner. If you choose Yes, this banner will be automatically activated and will replace the current banner on your site.
Once the banner is saved, it will be displayed in the summary table with all the other banners you have created. This table brings together the most important information from the various banners you have created (name, type, status, etc.).
On this table, you can change the status, change the configuration of the banner itself or delete it.
