Account Settings tab
Before you start configuring your web push notifications, we invite you to enter your OneSignal credentials in this tab. A document will be accessible from this tab to help you create your own OneSignal application and request your identifiers on this platform.
Authorization message settings tab
In this tab, you will have the option to customize your Permission Message and your Notify Bell.
What you need to know about the Permission Message and the Notify Bell
The permission message is a custom message that will be displayed to users before triggering the request for permission of the browser notifications. First of all, it informs users of the advantage of subscribing to the site's push notifications. In addition, the Permission message is considered a "soft request", that is, if the user refuses, you will still have the option to present the option later (by the Notify Bell for example), while if the user refuses the browser's authorization request, you will no longer be able to ask him, unless he goes through several steps to reactivate the authorizations.
The Notify Bell is a widget that is displayed at all times at the bottom of your site. If the user clicks on this widget, the browser's permission request will be displayed.
Step 1: Customizing the Permission Message
This step will allow you to customize different elements of your message:
- First of all, start with the display delay of your message: we recommend a delay of at least 2000 milliseconds to give your visitors time to discover the content of your site before deciding whether they want to subscribe to your notifications.
- You can also change the message text, as well as the text for the accept and reject buttons. You are recommended to fill in these texts in all available languages of your store, otherwise, the predefined message in English from OneSignal will be displayed.
Note: for better display, the number of characters is limited to 90 for the message and 15 for the buttons.
Step 2: Customizing the Notify Bell
In this step, you will have the opportunity to customize your Notify Bell:
- First, choose a size of the Notify Bell that suits your store. 3 choices are offered to you: Small, Medium or Large.
- You will also have the choice of the position of the Notify Bell on your site: at the bottom left or at the bottom right of the page.
- Do you want to customize its colors?
Image Manager tab
You will have the possibility in this tab to download your icons and images and use them later for your notifications. Upon arriving on this tab, you will find a summary table of all your icons and images, as well as their type (icon or image), their date of addition and the action buttons.
To add a new icon/image, please click on the button at the top of the table.
- Start by indicating the type of your image: is it an icon or a larger image? Note that the icon will be displayed in your notification displayed on any browser version, while the larger image will be displayed only in Chrome 56+ versions.
- Then, download an image from your computer and rename it if you want, this name will only be visible on your back office.
- Click on the Save button to keep your image in the module and make it appear on the summary table.
Notifications Manager tab
In this tab, you will find a summary table of your notifications with their main information: their status (sent or pending), the sending option and their audience.
To create a new web push notification, please click on the button located at the bottom right of the table. Creating a new notification consists of 4 steps:
Step 1: the choice of audience
This first step will allow you to choose the audience to which you want to broadcast your messages.
- Please enter the name of your notification in this tab, this name is only visible on your back office.
- Regarding the choice of audience, you can send notifications to all users who have subscribed to your store's notifications or only to a specific segment of users.
OneSignal proposes 3 user segments by default:
- Active users whose last session is within the last week (168 hours)
- Engaged users whose last session is within the last week (168 hours) and whose number of sessions is greater than 4
- Inactive users whose last session was more than a week ago
If you wish to add additional criteria for these segments or create a new segment (s), we invite you to go to your OneSignal account. Many criteria are offered for the creation of your user segments, including: the first and last session, the language of the user's device, the operating system of their device, etc.
Step 2: Customizing the content of the notification
In this second step, you can customize the title of your notification and the message broadcast to users. We recommend filling in these texts in all the languages of your store, among which English is mandatory: the notification in English will be displayed if the system cannot detect any other language adapted to the browser of the users.
Step 3: Choosing options To animate your notifications and encourage more users:
- You can choose from the icons and images that you have uploaded in the Image Manager tab those that you want.
- It is also possible to make the notification clickable by adding a redirect link to a page of your choice.
Step 4: scheduling the sending of the notification
The last step in creating a notification is to define its sending option. 2 options are offered to you:
- Immediate dispatch
- Delayed sending: if this option is chosen, we invite you to indicate in the dedicated fields the date and time of sending your notification
