To assign a country to an area, go to International > Geographical areas > Countries, modify the country and select the area.
Your PrestaShop installation must have registered all existing countries so that your customers can indicate where they live in the world. There are about 200 countries in the world, but PrestaShop offers 244. This is because we integrate, for example, overseas regions that are an integral part of the country.
For example, the French departments formally known as DOM (Guadeloupe, Martinique, Mayotte, Réunion, and French Guiana) now have the same status as the metropolitan French regions. Similarly, Hawaii and Alaska are fully-fledged states of the United States.
However, sending a parcel to Guadeloupe does not mean sending it to France, if only for the postage costs. In fact, the PrestaShop price list separates the country from the region.
By default, only your own country is activated. You must activate them one by one, depending on the needs of your customers. If you do not know which ones to activate, rely on the statistics by country of your visitors.
At the bottom of the list, the "Country preferences" section allows you to display in the Front Office only the countries covered by your carriers. We recommend activating this setting, as it prevents your customers from having to scroll through a long list of countries before finding theirs.
To assign a country to a zone, simply open the configuration of the country in question. Then click in the Zone field and select the new zone created.
