The objective of good SEO is to optimize its ranking on search engines. The acronym "SEO" stands for "Search Engine Optimization."
To enhance your product listing and increase the visibility of your store, we suggest that you carefully complete the various SEO fields: tags, meta descriptions, simplified URLs, and page redirection.
How to configure the SEO of your store?
In your back office, open the "SEO" tab. Here are the various parameters to configure:
Title tag
This is the most important field, given that the title will appear on search engines. Stay very factual: you must convince the search engine user to click on your link rather than another among the results. Ensure that you have a unique title for this product across your entire store.
|
Good example: "Levi's 501® Original Jeans - Light Wash - Regular Fit." Bad example: "Item #02769869B bestseller". |
Meta description
A brief presentation of the product in a few lines (ideally, less than 155 characters), in order to attract the customer's attention. It will appear in search results, depending on the search itself: some search engines choose to display only the searched words in the context of the page content. Ensure that you provide a unique description for this product on your site.
Simplified URL
Here is another extremely important field. It allows you to rewrite the web address of your product.
|
For example, instead of having an address of type http://www.monsite.com/index.php?id_product=8&controller=product ... You can have: http://www.monsite.com/8-nom-du-produit.html |
You simply need to indicate in the "Simplified URL" field the words (separated by hyphens) that you wish to appear instead of the default name. In this way, you help search engines to more easily index your products. It is preferable to avoid accented characters and specific characters.
The "Generate" button allows you to easily obtain a simplified web address based on the product name. Once generated, you may modify the product URL as you see fit.
Simplified URLs only function if URL rewriting is enabled. You can do this on the "SEO & URL" preferences page, in the "URL Configuration" section. Be sure to check with your hosting provider that URL rewriting is enabled on the server.
Page redirection.
In the event that you need to disable a product, you have the option to choose which redirection you wish.
