You can configure your theme and therefore the display of your front office in several ways.
Layout
On the Theme and Logo page, below your themes, click on the “Choose layout” button. You will arrive on a page that lists “page types” (examples: product page, category page, cart, etc.). For each page type, you choose a default layout.
What is it for?
This menu is used to define the structure used by default for each type of page in your store, according to what your theme offers. Concretely, this is where you decide if a page is displayed full width, with 1 sidebar, or 2 sidebars.
How to use it
For each page, you can choose a layout from the following:
- Full width - no column
- 3 columns - 1 central column and 2 side columns
- 2 columns, small column on the left
-
2 columns, small column on the right
Please note
- This changes the presence and layout of columns (left/right) depending on the pages, and therefore the space available for content and blocks/modules.
- This does not “rebuild” the theme: if your theme does not offer certain structures, they will not appear.
Pages configuration
In Appearance >Theme & Logo, the “Pages configuration” submenu (sometimes translated as “Page customization”) is used to organize and modify the modules displayed on certain key pages of the front office.
What is it for?
This menu allows you to customize:
- the home page
- the category page
- the product page
The idea is not to “draw” the page, but to choose which modules (blocks) appear in which areas.
How to use it
- Go to Appearance > Theme & Logo > Pages configuration.
- Select the page to modify (Home, Category, Product).
- On the screen, you will see:
- on the left, a simplified illustration of the page
- on the right, a “mirror” view with the list of modules corresponding to the areas of the page.
- Click on the area of the page you want to modify: PrestaShop will show you which module(s) are linked to this area.
- Click on “Configure” to open the relevant module, then make your adjustments (content, display, etc.).
Please note
- This option works with the default theme and native modules. If you have a custom theme, this menu may be limited or less relevant.
- If the Theme Customization module is disabled, these pages may not be accessible (or may not display anything), as they depend on it.
- You can also see the different modules of your theme in the module manager, under the “Theme modules” category
Advanced customization
If you have the necessary technical background, this option allows you to go further than the classic theme settings (logo, colors, layout). It meets custom needs, such as modifying in greater depth the appearance or visual behavior of certain pages.
Warning: This option may require the intervention of a service provider (developer or agency), as the changes are more technical and can seriously impact your store.
| ⚠️ To customize the colors of certain themes, you will need to directly modify your store’s CSS. To learn more, see the article Customize your site’s CSS. |
Before you get started, don’t forget to:
- Put your store in maintenance mode
- Preview your changes as you go by clicking on “view my store”
- Test your modifications in pre-production
