Some hosting providers offer an environment specifically designed for PrestaShop. This article explains how to install your PrestaShop store with 7724, an e-commerce host specialized in PrestaShop, which automatically includes performance optimization, security (dedicated WAF, patcher), and managed services without any additional configuration required from you.
Are you starting with PrestaShop or do you already have a store?
Before starting, identify your situation. The following steps are the same, but your starting point changes.
You are starting with PrestaShop
You do not have a store yet. You will create your 7724 environment and install PrestaShop on it from scratch. Follow steps 1 to 8 below.
You already have a PrestaShop store
Your store is hosted elsewhere (OVH, O2Switch, Ionos, or others). You want to migrate to 7724 to benefit from an environment optimized for PrestaShop.
You have two options:
Migration handled by 7724: The team takes care of everything, from A to Z, at a fixed price. See the section: Migration to 7724 below.
Self-managed migration: You manage the transfer of files and database yourself. Follow steps 1 to 8, adapting step 3 (uploading your existing files) and step 4 (importing your database).
Two paths are available depending on your technical level and preferences
1. Installation by 7724 support: submit a simple request by email, and the team installs the latest stable version of PrestaShop on your hosting (or any other version on request). No technical action required on your part.
2. Manual installation: follow the steps below to install PrestaShop yourself, at your own pace.
Prerequisites
Before starting, make sure you have:
- An active domain name (or one to register)
- A 7724 account, which you can create directly at 7724.fr
- The latest version of PrestaShop, downloadable from prestashop.com
Step 1 - Choose your 7724 plan
Go to 7724.fr and check the available plans.
7724 offers several plans adapted to the size of your store: from the Start plan for a new store, up to Business plans for active stores with high traffic. Review the plan details on 7724.fr to choose the one that fits your needs.
All plans include at no extra cost: dedicated IP, dedicated WAF (application firewall), security patcher, and unlimited Level 1 managed services.
Click Order to get the plan of your choice, or Schedule an appointment if you want assistance in your choice.
Step 2 - Create your account and configure your hosting
Enter your information (name, email, company, etc.) and confirm your order. You will receive a confirmation email with your access details: admin panel, SFTP credentials, and database access.
Once your hosting is activated, your environment is already configured for PrestaShop: recommended PHP version, optimized MySQL.
Step 3 - Upload PrestaShop files via SFTP
Connect via SFTP to your 7724 server using the credentials received by email (see this article if needed).
Upload the contents of the PrestaShop archive to the root directory of your domain.
Step 4 - Create the database
Access PHPMyAdmin via the credentials provided by the 7724 team when your hosting was activated. Create a new database.
Note the following information, as you will need it during installation:
- Database name
- Username
- Password
- Host (available in the information provided by 7724)
Step 5 - Launch the PrestaShop installation wizard
Open your browser and go to your domain address. The PrestaShop installation wizard will start automatically.
Choose your store’s language, then accept the terms and conditions.
Compatibility check: the wizard verifies that your environment meets PrestaShop’s requirements. On 7724 hosting, all prerequisites are satisfied by default, so you can proceed directly to the next step.
Your store information: enter the name, email address, and password for your admin account. These credentials will be used to access your back office.
Database configuration: enter the information noted in step 4 (host, database name, username, password). Click Test database connection to verify the settings before continuing.
The installation will start. Depending on your connection and server, this step usually takes less than two minutes.
Step 6 - Delete the installation folder
Once the installation is complete, PrestaShop prompts you to delete the /install folder for security reasons. This step is mandatory before accessing your back office.
Reconnect via SFTP to your server, navigate to your store’s root directory, and delete the install folder.
Step 7 - Access your back office
PrestaShop automatically generates a random admin folder name during installation (for example admin7hy3k). This mechanism is a first layer of protection against unauthorized access attempts.
To strengthen this protection, we recommend renaming this folder with a long random string (at least 24 characters), mixing letters and numbers, with no recognizable words (example: k9p2mz7x4nq1wr8j3dc8pf2a). Avoid predictable names containing "admin," simple numbers, or your store’s name.
To rename the folder, connect via SFTP to your server, locate the admin folder at your store’s root, and rename it. Note the new name, as it is the only address that will give you access to your back office.
Then go to votredomaine.com/[your-new-admin-folder-name] and log in with the credentials created in step 5.
Step 8 - Verify SSL configuration
In your back office, go to Shop Settings > General and enable SSL if it is not already enabled. On 7724, the SSL certificate is included and activated by default on all plans.
Also enable the option Enable SSL on all pages to secure all exchanges between your store and your visitors.
Your store is ready
PrestaShop is installed, and your infrastructure is configured for performance from day one: Varnish cache active, WAF security in place, dedicated IP assigned.
If you need assistance during installation or want to migrate an existing store to 7724 (turnkey migration at a fixed price), the 7724 team is available via 7724.fr
Migration to 7724 - You already have a PrestaShop store
You have a store hosted elsewhere and want to switch to hosting designed for PrestaShop. Migration to 7724 is handled from A to Z at a fixed price.
What the turnkey migration includes:
- Complete transfer of your store (files + database) by the 7724 team
- Testing in a pre-production environment before switching; your current store remains online throughout
- DNS switch without service interruption
No surprises, no downtime during migration. Once the switch is done, your store runs on the 7724 infrastructure with Varnish cache, dedicated WAF, and active managed services from day one.
