Offering payment by check provides an alternative for customers who prefer more traditional methods, particularly in B2B transactions or for high amounts. This payment method can be particularly useful for customers who prefer not to use a bank card or online account.
1. Access the menu
In your PrestaShop back office: go to Payment > Payment methods and click on Configure next to "Payments by check".
2. Configuration of useful information
- Beneficiary name: Enter the name of the beneficiary of the check (usually the name of your company).
- Address: Indicate the postal address to which the checks should be sent. Be precise and complete to avoid any delivery problems.
3. Use of the module
- Purchase process: From now on, your customers will be able to choose payment by check to pay for their order. Once selected, the payee's name and address will appear on the screen.
- Order statuses: When a customer selects the payment method by check to finalize an order, the latter will automatically have the status "pending payment by check".
- Restrictions by customer group and by country (optional): By going to Payment / Preferences, you can restrict the use of this payment method to certain customer groups, countries or currencies.
⚠️ Please note that upon receipt of the check, you will have to manually change the payment status of the order to change it to the status "Payment accepted" in your back office. |
Here are some tips:

- Regularly update order statuses to inform your customers of the progress of their order.
- Consider adding a page of information about payments by cheque on your website, explaining the steps to follow and the processing times.
