Permissions are the central element of profiles on PrestaShop. They allow you to precisely configure what an employee account can or cannot do on your store.
To set these permissions in your back office, go to the 'Permissions' tab, accessible from the Advanced Settings > Team page.
On the left side of the screen, you will find as many tabs as there are available profiles. Click on any profile (except SuperAdmin) to access the permissions, which will be displayed on the right side of the screen and divided into two tables.

📝 If you need to set up a new profile, you must first create it in the "Profiles" tab located in the same "Team" menu. |
Set up menu permissions.
The permissions related to the menu can be found on the left panel. This is where you can decide what the profile can or cannot do on the back-office pages: you can prevent a profile from modifying the content of a page, or even completely hide the page from them.
For each of the menu pages, you have 5 options:
- Display: to allow the employee to view information.
- Add: to allow the employee to add new information.
- Modify: to allow the employee to modify information.
- Delete: to allow the employee to delete information.
- All: to allow all 4 criteria above.
Set the permissions for the modules.
The permissions related to the modules can be found on the right. You can thus allow certain profiles to only view the available modules, while others may have access to their configuration.
For each of the modules, you have 3 options:
- Display : to allow the employee to view the module configuration.
- Configure : to allow the employee to configure the module.
- Uninstall: to allow the employee to uninstall a module.
The SuperAdmin permissions cannot be changed: the profile simply has all rights for all criteria.
To avoid errors when configuring permissions, PrestaShop automatically saves the settings with each modification. This means that you do not have to click on a "Save" button. Once you have assigned its rights to a profile, you can return to the "Employees" administration page and assign this profile to the targeted employees.
