An employee account allows you to grant your team or external users the necessary access rights to perform their tasks, without sharing your own credentials.
The Employees tab.
Navigate to the "Employees" tab on the Advanced Settings > Team page. This page lists all user accounts that have access to the back office of your store.
You will notice that by default, the only account mentioned is the one created during the installation of the store, automatically regarded as "SuperAdmin". This account has access to all functionalities of PrestaShop, without restriction.
If you have the Hosted or Classic versions of PrestaShop, you will also see a PrestaShop Marketplace employee. This "employee" merely ensures the proper functioning of the PrestaShop Marketplace module in your Back Office.
Create an employee account.
To create an account, go to the Advanced Settings > Team page and click on the action button in the top right corner to open the user creation form.
Once the creation form is displayed, you may follow these steps:
- Please provide the first name and last name of the user you wish to add. Clients do not see these names, but they allow for tracking who has done what in the back office of your store.
- Create the login credentials for the back office: the email address and a password. Please refer to our article on secure passwords if necessary.
- Select the default language. If you do not find the desired language, please ensure to add the necessary languages on the 'Translations' page in the 'International' menu.
- Assign a profile to your employee. It is very important to assign the correct profile to each account; further information on profiles can be found in this article.
- Choose the page that is displayed by default when the user logs into the back office of the store.
Activate or deactivate an employee account.
By default, employee accounts are activated. However, you have the option to deactivate them. This allows you to create temporary accounts, for instance when you need to grant access to your back office to technical support, or if you are employing seasonal workers.
