Customer accounts are very important for your store. They allow you to get to know your customers better, as well as their expectations! Discover how to make the most of your customer accounts.
To access them: Clients > Customers
Why are customer accounts useful?
The "Customers" section allows you to view the details of your customer accounts. Thanks to this, you can create groups of customers to whom you can apply discounts, view ongoing shopping carts or manage after-sales service.
Demonstration customer account
When your store is installed, PrestaShop creates a default user: John Doe. This demo customer is very useful for testing the features of your store. Thanks to it, you can browse the pages as a normal customer would.
To log in to your store with this account, use the following credentials:
- Email address: pub@prestashop.com
- Password: 123456789
💡 However, before opening your store to the public, we recommend that you delete this default customer. Malicious users could use it to create fake orders. |
How to search among your customer accounts?
The customer account management interface is presented as follows:
It displays the list of all your customers. You can use the following parameters to sort the accounts or search for a customer:
- ID: the unique identifier of your customer, automatically assigned by PrestaShop.
- Title: the customer can indicate their title, which can help you better personalize the use of your store by your customers.
- Activated: indicates whether the account is active or not. You can deactivate an account by clicking on the toggle button.
- Information letter: indicates whether the customer is subscribed to your newsletter or not. You can unsubscribe them by clicking the toggle button.
- Partner offers: indicates whether the customer agrees to receive messages from your partners or not. You can unsubscribe them by clicking the toggle button.
💡 Registration and last visit can prove useful for filtering customer accounts. If you wish to add information to the profiles of your new customers, for example. |
- Actions: you can modify a user's account, view their data (including their messages, orders, address, discount vouchers, etc.), or even permanently delete it.
How to export your customer list?
Exporting the customer list is useful in many cases; if you wish to recover their contacts to send a newsletter, for example.
The export file gives you access to all your customers' information: e-mailing preferences, agreement to send partner offers, date of registration, number of sales, your customers' login credentials... This can be very useful if your customers contact you because they have lost their password, for example.
- Click on the gear icon (1) in the top right corner to open the advanced settings.
- Click on "Export" (2).
💡 To best display the information contained in your CSV file, separate the data with a semicolon. |
