It is strongly recommended to keep your store and its modules up to date. There are two ways to update a module, but before performing the update:
- Check that the new version of the module is compatible with your version of PrestaShop.
- Check that your Business Care subscription is activated for this module.
- Save the module configuration (for example, by taking a screenshot).
- Save the module files by connecting to FTP (see this article to learn more about FTP).
- Put your store in maintenance mode.
📝 It is also recommended to update each module one by one and test your store after each update. This helps to limit errors, or to easily find their source if necessary. |
Update directly from the back office
If you have not already done so, associate your store with your PrestaShop account.
Go to the module manager, find the desired module and select "update" from the drop-down menu on the right.
If your store is based on the Open Source version, you will also need to install the PrestaShop Marketplace module in your Back Office to be able to update certain modules.
Update via the PrestaShop Marketplace
Please go to the PrestaShop Marketplace, either on the product page of the module or on the Products tab of your account, and download the desired module. It will be saved in zip format. All that remains is to add the zip file to the module manager on your back office.
Frequently Asked Questions
I have modified the code of the module, can I still install an update?
Please note that updating a module will delete any specific developments made on it. If you have used an agency to carry out these developments, then please contact them for assistance.
How do I know if the module is already up to date?
Go to the back office of your store, in the Modules > Module Manager menu. If you are looking for a particular module, you can search for it to display it directly.
If you do not see the green "Update available" label and the drop-down menu at the far right of the module line does not offer an update option, then the module is already running its latest version.
When a module is available on the Marketplace, you can also check if the version on its product page corresponds to the one indicated in your back office. For example, for PrestaShop Account:
In your back office:
On PrestaShop Marketplace:
Finally, you can also check which modules can be updated by going to the dedicated tab, which will display a list of modules with a new version available.
