One of the features of PrestaShop is the ability to create an order directly from the back office. This can, for instance, prove to be extremely useful when a customer wishes to purchase a product but is unable to do so, necessitating your intervention to place the order while you are in contact with the customer, either by phone or by email.
To create a new order, simply click on Orders in the menu to access the list of orders. By clicking on the "Add an Order" button at the top right of the page, a page opens with a single text field named "Search for a Customer". When you create a new order via the back office, your first task is to associate this order with a customer. Enter the first letters of their name, first name, or email address, and PrestaShop will display the corresponding accounts.
If the customer for whom you are creating the order does not yet have an account on your store, you can create one on the fly: click on the "Add a new customer" button to open a window with the main details to fill in. Once the account is registered, it immediately becomes the account associated with the order.
Please note that you will also need to register the customer's addresses – a button "Add a new address" is available at the bottom of the page, in the "Addresses" section.
Click on the "Choose" button of the correct customer, and the entire order form will appear. All product additions will take place in its main section, "Cart." You may also choose to use one of the customer's previous orders, or one of their abandoned carts.
The "Search for a product" field allows you to perform a dynamic search on the products to be added: enter the first letters of the product name, and PrestaShop will display a dropdown list with the corresponding products. Choose the product, select the quantity, and click on the "Add to cart" button. If the product is available in several variations, you can of course choose the desired one using the dropdown list that appears in this case.
Please note that PrestaShop indicates the remaining stock for a given product, allowing you to inform the customer that you are out of stock for this product right from the order form.
This page allows you to view the previous baskets and orders of this client, if any. If you need to manage a basket that the client is unable to validate, you can use this basket for this order by clicking on the "Use" action.
If necessary, you can also grant a voucher or a basket rule for this order, and even create one on the fly by clicking on the "Add a voucher" button.
Finally, you must specify the address to which the order should be sent (and possibly billed). Here again, you can create new addresses on the fly using the "Add a new address" button.
Once the parameters of your order are set, you will receive a summary of your order with the option to either send an email to your client with a payment link or go directly to the payment page if your client agrees to provide you with their credit card number (as you can do when making a reservation by phone).
