Reasons why your products may be rejected because of their photos
On the photos of some of your products, promotional text (such as a merchant logo, a discount sticker, a call to action) or watermarks are superimposed, which may prevent the product from being fully visible.
All products on Google Ads and Free Listings must be accompanied by a photo showing the product without any superposition. Products that do not meet this criterion are rejected and remain so until you modify their photos.
Please follow these guidelines (video in English) to ensure that your photo meets our criteria and provides you with optimal results.
Solving the problem so that your products are approved
Let's talk solutions! You can solve this problem in the Merchant Center or the PrestaShop back office.
Activate photo enhancements to automatically correct yours!
If an overlay promotion is detected on a main photo, the product concerned will be rejected because it does not meet the conditions applicable to photos.
If you activate the automatic removal tool, Google will attempt to automatically correct these photos by removing the overlay promotions. If the removal is successful, the photo will be replaced and the product will be approved again.
Please note that this fully automated process does not always work. If a photo cannot be improved, the product will remain rejected. In rare cases, superimposed promotions may remain intact or other non-promotional parts of the photo may be deleted.
If an automatically enhanced photo does not satisfy you, you can replace it by importing a new photo yourself (see instructions below).
Photos of approved products are not modified.
Automatic photo enhancements are disabled by default. You can activate them and set your parameters at any time.
To set the automatic photo enhancement settings, follow these steps:
- Log in to your Merchant Center account.
- Click on the Tools icon⚙️, then select Automatic Enhancements in the Settings.
- On the next page, click on the Photo Enhancements tab and adjust your settings so that they are automatically enhanced.
Note: You can keep a photo with overlays, for example, a piece of furniture with dimensions displayed on the photo, as long as it is not the first photo presented.
Please correct the products one by one directly in the Merchant Center.
- Go to your Products in the Merchant Center, then select the necessary Action tab.
- Use the filter by clicking on the icon above the table to find all the products affected by this problem.
- Click on the title of the product you wish to correct, then click on Edit product.
- Modify the URL you have submitted with the [image_link] attribute so that it leads to a valid photo of the product. You can also verify that the image at the end of the provided URL meets the overlay requirements.
- Select Save.
Correct multiple products at once
- Go to your Products in the Merchant Center, then select the necessary Action tab.
- Use the filter by clicking on the icon above the table to find all the products affected by this problem.
- Please select the Download icon to download a list (.csv) of all products affected by a problem or by this particular problem.
- Compare the downloaded list with the product data you have imported and verify that the URLs you have submitted for each affected product with the [image_link] attribute lead to valid product photos. You can also verify that the photos at the end of the provided URLs meet the overlay conditions.
- Re-import the corrected product data into the Merchant Center using the import method of your choice.
Correct the product photos in the PrestaShop back office.
- Log in to your PrestaShop back office.
- Click on Catalogue, then on Products.
- Click on the rejected product for which you wish to modify the photo.
- In the Basic settings section, click on the photo to re-import your corrected product.
