Testing the display and functionality of your PrestaShop store on tablet and mobile is essential to ensure a good experience for your customers, as the majority of online purchases are now made on these devices. Even if your store is "responsive," it is important to check for yourself that everything displays correctly, navigation is smooth, and purchasing is simple on all devices.
Use your own devices
The most accessible method is to open your store on your own smartphone or tablet, just as a customer would.
Simulate a mobile device from your computer
If you don’t have a tablet or smartphone on hand, you can use the mobile simulation feature built into most web browsers on computers. For example, on Chrome:
- Open your front office in your browser.
- Right-click anywhere on the page, then click “Inspect.”
- Click on the icon or the name of the mobile/tablet at the top left of the window that just opened.
- Choose the device model to simulate (iPhone, iPad, etc.).
You can now see how your store looks on different devices, even though this does not replace real testing on a mobile device.
Additional best practices
- Test the steps of the customer journey: home page, categories, product pages, cart, checkout process. Make sure everything displays properly, texts are readable, images are well-sized, and buttons are easily clickable.
- Also check the store on different browsers (Safari, Chrome, Firefox) and systems (iOS, Android).
- If you make major changes (new theme, adding modules), systematically repeat these tests.
- Consider asking friends or family for feedback, as they can test the store on their own devices and report any issues to you.
