Before adding a module or theme to your PrestaShop store, make sure that it is fully compatible with your version of PrestaShop. A module or theme that is not adapted can cause errors and crashes.
Here's how to choose a module that suits your store.
1. Check your version of PrestaShop
You will find the version of your store in the back office (top left, next to the logo).
For more information about the versioning system, see PrestaShop software versions.
2. Confirm the module or theme's compatibility
On the PrestaShop Marketplace, filter by "PrestaShop compatibility" to display the products compatible with the version of your store.
In the product sheet, check:
- The product version
- Compatible PrestaShop versions
💡 Please note that you should not confuse the PrestaShop version with the module version, which has its own updates indicated by its version number, like most software. |
The compatible PrestaShop versions and the product version are also displayed in the "Compliance check" box.
⚠️ Always prefer a fully compatible product, i.e. not only at the main version level, but also at the level of updates and patches. |
3. Read the other information on the product sheet
-
Carefully examine the description and characteristics (features, dependencies, supported languages, etc.)
-
If in doubt, contact the developer to confirm compatibility with your store.
4. Test before installing
-
Before installing on your store, test the module or theme on a test environment. For example, for a store installed locally: Install a PrestaShop store locally on your computer.
-
In case of malfunction, contact the module developer. If the problem persists, you can request PrestaShop support.
