The Customizable Labels and Stickers module allows you to create and configure rules that display custom labels on the products of your choice during various types of business operations (Promotions, New Arrivals, Best Sellers, Favorites). Below you will find all the necessary information for understanding and using this module.
Create and configure your label rules.
In the Configuration tab, click on "Create a label rule." A 3-step configuration pop-up appears:
Step 1 - Global configuration of the rule
In this 1st step, you can fill in and choose the name of the rule, as well as the choice of the type of business operation: Promotions / New arrivals / Best sellers / Favorites.
- If you choose Promotions, the selection of products is done automatically by identifying products with a specific price or a catalog price rule when it applies to a quantity of 1 product. Products associated with a cart rule or a catalog price rule for a quantity greater than 1 are not considered. You therefore have nothing more to do and you can directly access step 2.
- If you choose New Arrivals, you have the option to select your products:
- Manually: type the first letters of the desired Products or Categories in the search bar and select the products on which you wish to display a label. You also have the option to set a display period (start date / end date) for this label. If no period is selected, the label will be displayed until you deactivate or delete the label rule.
- Automatically: enter the number of days during which you wish to consider your products as "New" and therefore display a label on them. The module considers the upload dates of your products, whether they are active or inactive. Only products meeting this newness condition will display a New label.
Note: By default, the PrestaShop solution allows for the display of a non-configurable New banner. To remove it and display only your custom labels, you simply need to configure the "New Products Block" (accessible from the Modules tab), by entering 0 in the field "Number of days during which a product is considered 'new'.
- If you choose Best Sellers, you have the option to select your products:
- Manually: the process is the same as for the New Arrivals label.
- Automatically: select the number of best-selling products to display. These best-sellers can be selected from the entire catalog or from each default category. Only the X bestsellers from the catalog or within each category will display a Bestsellers label.
- If you choose Favorites, you have the option to select your products manually. The process is the same as for the New Arrivals label.
Step 2 - Configuration of the label display.
The display configuration of the label is the same for new arrivals, best-sellers, and favorites, but it differs for promotions.
If you are in Promotions, please configure the following elements:
- The text of the label to be inserted in the languages of your choice. In the event that you do not add text for all your languages, the text of the label will appear in the default language of your store for the missing languages.
- The text police
- The text color
- The text size (choose between S, M, L, XL)
- The background color of the label (or check the box if you do not wish to add a background to the label)
- The position of the label on the image.
If you are engaged in one of the three other business operations, please configure the following items:
- The type of icons to display: choose one of the four transparent icons offered by PrestaShop or upload your own labels. The accepted image formats are as follows: JPG, GIF, PNG. The maximum accepted size is 50 px x 50 px and its weight (according to the server) is 8 MB. Beyond this format, your image will be resized. You have the option to import a label for each language. If you wish to display the same label for all languages in your store, you only need to import this label in the default language of your store.
- The activation of the text associated with the label or not. If it is activated, you may add text in the languages of your choice.
- The font of the text.
- The color of the text.
- The size of the text (choose between S, M, L, XL)
- The background color of the label (or check the box if you do not wish to add a background to the label)
- The position of the label on the image
In both cases, a preview of a demo image allows you to dynamically visualize your configured label on an image.
Step 3 - Configuration of the associated product banner
In this step, you can associate a banner with a label. This will be displayed on the product sheet below the price and above the add to cart button. The banner is ideal for providing more information about a promotional operation and for making the product more attractive. The configurable elements of the banner are as follows:
- The activation of the banner or not
- The choice of text, in the languages of your choice (maximum 40 characters)
- The color of the text
- The color of the background of the banner. In the same way as for the labels, a dynamic preview appears on the right, allowing you to see in real time the configuration made on your banners.
Modify your rules directly from the table.
All your label rules are available in the table of the configuration tab. It presents all the information related to these rules: Priority, Label Name, Type of Business Operation, Start Date, End Date, Rule Status, Rule Translations, Actions. Several types of actions are available from this table:
- The modification of the label rule: when you click on this button, you access the rule creation pop-up, with the current pre-registered information. However, you cannot change the type of business operation, as this would equate to creating a new rule, nor can you switch from manual to automatic configuration.
- The label preview: when you click on preview, a pop-up of the demo image appears, allowing you to see the label you have configured for this rule.
- The deletion of the label rule: you have the option to delete previously created rules.
- The change of State (Active / Inactive) of the label rule: by clicking on the icon of a rule in the State column, you can set it to Active or Inactive directly from the table. By default, when you create a new rule, it will be active.
- The change in priority of label rules: A product may not display more than one label simultaneously, even if it meets the conditions of several label rules. The product will therefore display the label (and the banner, if there is one) associated with the rule having the highest priority. By default, the last created label rule will have the lowest priority. To modify these priorities, you simply need to move the line associated with the rule to the desired level using drag and drop. If a rule has a higher priority but is disabled or has an expired/not started display period, it will not be taken into account.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the module work and in what situations is it best suited?
The Labels and Stickers module allows you to create and configure custom label display rules on the products of your choice. The module is ideal for four types of business operations: Promotions, New Arrivals, Best Sellers, and Favorites.
On which products will the labels be displayed?
The labels are displayed on the products that you manually select or on those that meet your criteria if you have chosen the 'automatic' option. These labels are visible on the products on the homepage, on category pages, and on product sheets (with the banner), but they are not displayed when a customer zooms in on the image.
In what order of priorities are the labeling rules classified?
A product cannot display more than one label at the same time, even if it meets the conditions of several labeling rules. Thus, the product will display the label (and the banner if there is one) associated with the rule having the highest priority. By default, the last labeling rule created will have the lowest priority. To modify the priorities, it is sufficient to drag and drop a rule line to the desired position. If a rule has a higher priority but has been disabled or its display period has not yet started / has expired, it will not be taken into account.
What is a banner?
A banner is a framed text that provides customers with more information about a business operation. It is visible on the product page, below the price and above the "Add to Cart" button. A banner is always associated with a label and configured during the third step of label creation. In this step, you can choose the text for your banner (in the various languages of your store), as well as the text and background color.
How does product selection work?
You can manually or automatically select the products on which the labels will be displayed.
Manually: you select the products or categories of your choice and define (if necessary) a display period. If no period is chosen, the labels will be displayed until you disable or delete the label rules.
Automatically: based on specific criteria associated with various business operations, the module will automatically select the products displayed with the label.
How does the selection of products for the New Arrivals label work?
For new arrivals, you can manually or automatically select your products and categories by choosing the number of days during which a product will be considered 'new' after its launch. If you choose the automatic option, only the products that meet the established criteria will display a 'New Products' label.
How does the selection of products for the Best Sellers label work?
For bestsellers, you can manually or automatically select your products and categories by choosing the number of bestsellers to display. You can choose these bestsellers from the entire catalog or from each default category of your catalog. If you choose automatic selection, only the top X best-selling products will display a label.
How does the product selection for the Favorite Picks label work?
For favorite products, you can only manually select the products or categories on which you wish to display a label. You can also set (if necessary) a display period for this label.
How does the product selection for the Promotions label work?
For a promotion, products are automatically selected when they have a specific price or if a catalog price rule defined with a quantity of 1 is applied to them. The module does not take into account products associated with cart rules or catalog price rules with a quantity greater than 1.
I wish to display my own labels. What are the types and formats of labels that I can add?
In the second step of the label configuration, you can import your own labels in the following formats: JPG, GIF, and PNG. The maximum allowed size is 50 px x 50 px and the maximum weight is 8 MB (according to your server). Beyond this format, your image will be resized to 50 px x 50 px. You can import one label per language. If you wish to display the same label for all the languages of your store, you only need to import a label for your default language.
What are the configuration elements for displaying a PrestaShop label?
When configuring the display of a PrestaShop label, you can choose an icon (from 4 transparent icons provided for each type of business operation), add a background color, and associate it with text in the languages, font, size, and color of your choice. Furthermore, you can choose the position of your label on the product image: top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right.
What happens if I do not add text for each language of my store?
When you create a label with text, you can customize this text for each language of your store. In the event that you do not add text for all languages, the label text will be displayed in your default language for all missing translations.
I have set up a label for my new products, but a label of this type is already displayed on the image. What should I do?
The blue banner "New" is linked to the default PrestaShop configuration. To remove it, you simply need to configure the New Products block in the module manager tab, by entering "0" in the field "Number of days a product is considered 'new'".
The label I configured is not visible on the associated products in my store. What should I do?
Before contacting us, please ensure that you have reviewed the following questions:
- Have you cleared the cache of your store? If not, go to Advanced Settings > Performance - Clear Cache.
- Is your labeling rule activated? If there is a red cross on the line of your ruler, it means that it is not. It is sufficient to click on the cross to activate it.
- Are you sure that your label has been set for a period that has started and has not expired?
- Are your products associated with the highest priority labeling rule? If you are unsure, you will find more information about the label priorities in the questions of the FAQ above.
- Are you sure you have set the label in your default language? If you upload your own icons, ensure that you upload at least one icon for your default language. If you are using the PrestaShop icons, if you do not write any text for your default language, the label will only display the selected icon.
