Image Optimization
In the Image Optimization tab, please click on the button Create a New Rule located at the bottom right of the summary table of all existing image rules.
A window will open with 3 simple steps for setting up your new image rule:
Step 1: General
In this step, you will have 2 fields to fill out: "Rule Name" and "Language Selection".
- "Rule Name": give a name to the rule you are going to create in order to identify it more easily later. This new rule will appear in the summary table of the created tagging rules. We advise you to first create a global rule for all categories, and then, if necessary, to create specific rules if you require special referencing for certain categories. Note: It is recommended that you give a rule name that reflects the category to which it is applied.
- "Language selection": choose which language the rule will apply to.
Note: You can enable new languages for your store by clicking on the "Localization" tab and then on "Import localization pack."
After naming the rule and selecting your desired language, click on the "Next" button.
Step 2: Categories
This step will allow you to select the product categories for which you wish to apply the image tag rule that you are going to create.
Select "All categories" if you wish to apply the same type of tag to all categories of the store. You can also apply the rule to a single (sub) category or multiple ones. Only the images of products that have the selected category as their default category will be affected.
Step 3: Configuration of your tag.
In the tag field, you will be able to determine the tag structure that you wish to apply to your product images.
In order to assist you, you have next to you a list of variables that you can use to fill in your templates. You have the following variables available:
- {product name}, which corresponds to the name of the product.
- {product reference}, which corresponds to the product reference. If the reference contains special characters, they will be removed.
- {product manufacturer}, which corresponds to the name of the product manufacturer.
- {product category name}, which corresponds to the name of the product category.
- {product retail price with tax}, which corresponds to the retail price including tax.
- {product specific price with tax}, which corresponds to the specific price including tax.
- {product pre-tax retail price}, which corresponds to the retail price excluding tax.
- {product pre-tax specific prices}, which corresponds to the specific price excluding tax.
- {product reduction}, which corresponds to the percentage of reduction of the specific price.
After configuring your tagging rule, you can click on "Save". A message confirming that your rule has been successfully created will be displayed. A summary of this new rule then appears in the summary table. To activate the rule, simply click on the "Apply" button. The rule will thus apply to all products belonging to the categories affected by this new rule.
A window will open indicating how many products the rule applies to. You will be able to modify and update the rule at any time by returning to the summary table.
Note: The new product images (creation of new products or addition of images to existing products) that you add to a category with a tag rule will automatically adopt the default tag rule applied to that category. Therefore, there is no need to update the tag rule for these new images.
