The Abandoned Cart Recovery module allows you to automatically send a follow-up email to any customer who has created a cart without completing their order on your store.
Targets and Frequencies
Select here the types of customers to whom you wish to send follow-up emails, as well as the frequency of sending.
The Target
Choose whether you would like all your customers to be reminded when they have abandoned their cart or only those who have subscribed to your store's newsletter. To learn more about the legal obligations and restrictions regarding email communications with your customers, please consult the CNIL website.
The Frequency of Reminders
You have the option to create up to 3 reminders by defining the hours or days of sending from the first reminder. Do not hesitate to take our recommendations into account. You can also follow up on carts that were abandoned before the installation of this module by inserting the deadline in days. Then click on Save and proceed to the next tab.
Email templates
In this tab, construct your various templates tailored to the number of follow-ups you have activated and the different languages of your store.
First, choose the language of your template(s). Addressing your prospect in their native language will ensure the understanding of the message and thus increase the chances of conversion into a customer. Be sure to offer the abandoned cart reminder email in all the languages available in your store. If a customer's language is not set, configure cart reminders in the default language of your store.
In the Templates List section, you will find a summary table of all the cart reminders created according to the selected language.
In the Configure Your Templates section, configure the following elements:
The content
To optimize the open rate of your emails (and thus their conversion on your store), use the proposed "tags" that allow you to add the customer's first and last name as well as the content of the abandoned cart. Do not hesitate to refer to the provided template example. Note: the tag %DISCOUNT_TXT% is special. You need to go to the Discounts tab to configure the tag content before using it in your template.
Regarding the subject, feel free to use catchy phrases (e.g., "Complete your order before it's too late!" or "Finalize your order to receive your items as soon as possible!"), and it is also advisable to use a maximum of 60 characters. Write a reassuring hook: "There is still time to validate your order!" "We have set your items aside until tomorrow!"... In the text, one should be moderate: "Perhaps you didn't have time to finalize your purchases?" "Can we assist you?"... You will also be able to insert a link to your store. And do not forget to add the CNIL mention; you will find templates at the following link: https://www.cnil.fr/fr/rgpd-exemples-de-mentions-dinformation
The design
Choose the template you wish for your follow-ups by selecting the desired type of template. The templates are fully customizable to the colors of your store. You can add your logo, determine the font, insert tables, images, etc.
Save the configuration of your template and perform the operation for the other templates. Then proceed to the Discounts tab.
Discounts
This tab allows you to configure the following aspects:
- Enable / Disable the discount
- Type (by percentage, amount, or free shipping)
- Discount by amount (allows configuring different types of discounts based on the cart amount) abandoned.
- Value.
- Validity (choice between a fixed date or a duration in number of days).
First, select the reminder template for which you wish to add the discounts. Then, activate the discount option for the follow-up. You can determine whether you want the discounts to depend on the total amount of the abandoned cart or if it is a fixed discount for any amount of cart.
Fixed discount
You can choose a discount by percentage, amount, or offer free shipping.
- Amount: This rule applies a monetary discount on the total order. For example, suppose the order costs €200 before the application of taxes. If the rule is given a value of €20, customers benefiting from the rule will only pay €180 (before taxes and shipping fees).
- In percentage (%): This rule applies a percentage of the total price of the order. For example, let us assume that the order will cost €200 before the application of taxes. If we assign a value of 15% to the rule, customers benefiting from the rule will only pay €170 (before taxes and shipping fees).
- Shipping fees: shipping is free for the order.
If you choose the type of discount by percentage or amount, fill in the value of the discount in the "Value" field.
Indicate the validity date (number of days for which the discount is valid). If you choose free shipping, only fill in the validity date of this discount.
Discount that depends on the total amount of the customer's cart.
You can set the number of segments between 1 and 3.
For each segment, you will be able to select the application limits of the segment. You can determine a minimum cart total to offer the discount.
Also select the type of discount applied.
- Amount: This rule applies a monetary discount on the total order. For example, let’s assume that the order costs €200 before the application of taxes. If we assign a value of €20 to the rule, customers benefiting from the rule will only pay €180 (before taxes and shipping fees).

- Shipping costs: shipping costs are waived for the order. (5) Select the validity date. Maximum number of days during which the discount will be active. If you choose the waived shipping costs, only fill in the validity date of this discount.
Configuration of the discount text
You may add to your follow-up email a text containing the information regarding the proposed discount for all active languages in your store.
Attention:
- Use the "Text for the discount" field ONLY if the configured discount is by percentage or by amount.
- Use the "Shipping Cost Text" field ONLY if the configured discount is for free shipping.
Important: To write the text, use the suggested labels to inform about the total amount, the validity date, and the discount code automatically:
%DISCOUNT_VALUE% - This label will be replaced in the reminder email by the amount of the discount you have configured. For example: 20% or €50.
%DISCOUNT_VALID_DAY% - This label will be replaced in the reminder email by the expiration day of the discount.
%DISCOUNT_VALID_MONTH% - This label will be replaced in the reminder email by the expiration month of the discount.
%DISCOUNT_VALID_YEAR% - This label will be replaced in the reminder email by the expiration year of the discount.
%DISCOUNT_CODE% - This label will be replaced in the reminder email by the discount code. Ex: CAVa70c6
Example text for the discount by amount or percentage:
If you purchase before %DISCOUNT_VALID_DAY% / %DISCOUNT_VALID_MONTH% / %DISCOUNT_VALID_YEAR%, you benefit from %DISCOUNT_VALUE% with the code %DISCOUNT_CODE%.
Example text for shipping fees:
Shipping costs are free until %DISCOUNT_VALID_DAY% with the code %DISCOUNT_CODE%.
Important: To ensure that the discount text appears in the reminder email, copy the following label "%DISCOUNT_TXT% " into the body of your reminder email. Your shipping or discount text will be automatically displayed in place of the label.
To finalize, save the configuration and return to the Email Templates tab.
Activation of reminders
In order to be able to send reminders, you must configure a cron job, which is a process that allows you to schedule regular tasks. You need to choose one of the 3 options provided to activate the reminders and start sending emails to your customers who have abandoned their cart.
Automatic reminders
They are possible with the native Cron Task module. Click on the button "ENABLE AUTOMATIC REMINDERS". Reminders will then be configured automatically with the "Cron Task" module located in your PrestaShop Back Office.
Manual reminders.
Alternatively, you can send manual reminders; to do this, enter the following URLs in your browser:
First reminder: http://192.168.11.110/presta_chris/modules/cartabandonmentpro/send.php?id_shop=1&token=16 58736211542eb05dd3aa46.69659419&wich_remind=1
Second reminder: http://192.168.11.110/presta_chris/modules/cartabandonmentpro/send.php?id_shop=1&token=16 58736211542eb05dd3aa46.69659419&wich_remind=2

Setting up a cron job on your server
If you wish, you can configure your cron task yourself, on your own server: First restart: 0 * * * * php –f /var/www/htdocs/presta_chris/modules/cartabandonmentpro/send.php?id_shop=1 & token=165873 6211542eb05dd3aa46.69659419& wich_remind=1
Second reminder: 0 * * * * php -f /var/www/htdocs/presta_chris/modules/cartabandonmentpro/send.php?id_shop=1 & token=165873 6211542eb05dd3aa46.69659419& wich_remind=2
Third reminder: 0 * * * * php -f /var/www/htdocs/presta_chris/modules/cartabandonmentpro/send.php?id_shop=1 & token=165873 6211542eb05dd3aa46.69659419& wich_remind=3
For enhanced performance, we recommend that you select the third option, which corresponds to the creation of a cron job on your own server.
