The Size Guide module developed by PrestaShop allows you to create and customize various design size charts for the products and categories of your choice in just a few minutes. Ideal for online fashion, lingerie, accessories, and jewelry stores, it will help guide your customers in choosing their size and thus reduce the return rate of your products.
Below you will find all the necessary information for the understanding and use of this module.
Creation and configuration of size guides.
When you are in the Configuration tab, a button labeled "Create a new table" appears.
When you click on it, a three-step pop-up appears:
Step 1 : Choosing the name and products associated with the size guide
- Choose the name of the size guide you are creating. Adapt it to the different languages of your store by selecting the desired languages next to the name field. If you leave this field blank for one or more languages, the default language will be used.
- Select the products or categories for which you wish to display this size guide. You can choose to display it for all the products in your catalog, for a category, or for one or more specific products. To do this, simply click on "All products" or "Product" / "Category" and enter the desired items in the "Add items" field.
Step 2: Creation and display of the table.
Choose the type of guide you wish to display:
- Either a classic size chart
- Or an inverted size chart (you select the ranges of values corresponding to the desired measurements, and the chart suggests the corresponding size)
Choose the type of display you wish for your size guide (A tooltip allows you to preview the display according to the chosen type):
- directly in a dedicated block within the product page. And/or
- in a pop-up: in this case, you will need to specify the name of the button that links to the pop-up. Specify the name according to the different languages of your store, by selecting the desired languages next to the name field. If you leave the field empty for one or more languages, the default language will be used. And/or
- in "Size finder", only offered for the reversed size chart.
In the case of the classic size chart, select the type of attribute (e.g., size, shoe size, etc.) corresponding to the product(s) for which you are displaying the size guide. As soon as you have selected it, the items of this attribute are automatically displayed in a table below the configuration pop-up. Next, choose the number of columns and their respective names by inserting them into the designated field. These columns correspond to the items you wish to compare with the data of the selected attribute.
Examples of use:
- EU sizes compared to US, UK, etc.
- Standard sizes (S, M, L or 36, 38, 40) compared to different measurements (waist, head, chest, etc.) Comparison of the store sizes to the standard sizes of different countries.
- Comparison of sizes from different brands sold in the store.
Separate each name with a comma, as in the following example: Column name 1, Column name 2, Column name 3. Then click on "Generate the table". In this example, the size table will display 3 columns associated with the different elements of the chosen attribute. Then insert the various elements of the columns you have created. You also have the option to remove certain elements of the chosen attribute from the table by clicking on the cross to the right of the corresponding row.
- In the case of the reversed size table, similarly, choose the desired attribute. As soon as you have selected it, the reversed table appears with the values of your attribute inside. Choose the values or ranges of values to display for your table's columns and rows. Separate each value with a comma, as in the following example: Column name 1, Column name 2, Column name 3 and Row name 1, Row name 2, Row name 3. Then click on "Generate the table". In this example, the table will display three columns and three rows. Next, select the values of your attribute within the table corresponding to the values of the rows and columns. You also have the option to remove certain elements of the chosen attribute from the table by clicking on the cross to the right of the corresponding row.
Examples of use:
- Value ranges for weight and height to determine the size most appropriate for the customers' measurements.
- Value ranges for waist circumference and leg length in the case of trousers.
- Etc.
Step 3 : Optional Content
In the 3 step, add if you wish a comment (in the different languages of your store) and/or an image associated with the size guide (there is no size limit for the image,
but this will be resized if it is too large). These will be displayed above the table.
Examples of information to provide in the comment
- Units in which the information is indicated
- Advice: "How to take your measurements correctly?"
- Tip: If you're unsure between 2 sizes / 2 sizes, go for... Size guide provided for informational purposes based on...
Summary table of the guides created
In the Configuration tab, you can find all the guides you have created directly in the table.
This table displays the information regarding the name of the guide, the attribute used, the chosen display type, and the associated products. At any time, you can view the created table by clicking on Display. You can also modify, enable/disable (by default, a created guide is enabled) or delete the created tables.
Display rules for guides on your site
On your store, all the size guides you have created and enabled will be displayed for the products and categories you have selected, according to the selected display type (pop-up, within the page, or in size finder). Several size charts may apply to the same product; in this case, the size guides are displayed in the form of tabs. These tabs allow you to view the various size guides one after the other, from the most specific (which is the leftmost tab) to the most general.
CMS Page Configuration
Below the table of created size guides, a CMS Page Configuration section allows you to create a dedicated page for all the configured size guides and display it on your site. To do this, click yes on "Create a CMS page for all size guides." Then provide the following information:
- Name of the CMS page (in the various languages of your store). This name will be displayed on your site.
- Meta description of the CMS page (in the various languages of your store). This allows you to improve the SEO of your page.
- Simplified URL of the CMS page (in the various languages of your store). This should normally reflect the name of the CMS page you have provided, separating each word with a hyphen -. If you wish to display meta keywords as well as additional content on your created CMS page, go to the Preferences tab > CMS sub-tab. Once the configuration is complete, in the Modules and Services tab, search for the CMS Block module and click on Configure. In the section "Configuration of various footer links," check the name of your created CMS page, and click on Save in order to display it in the footer of your home page.
