The Web Push Notifications module, developed by PrestaShop, allows you to send personalized messages to your customers' browsers to capture their attention and bring them back to your store. This module is ideal for announcing a special promotion, the release of a new collection... to your clients. Count on him to ensure a 100% delivery rate of your messages and boost your conversion rate. Web push notifications are also easily customizable according to your needs. Below you will find all the necessary information for understanding and using this module.
Account Settings Tab
Before you begin configuring your web push notifications, we invite you to enter your OneSignal credentials in this tab. A document will be accessible from this tab to assist you in creating your own OneSignal application and requesting your credentials on this platform.
Authorization Message Settings Tab
In this tab, you will have the opportunity to customize your Permission Message and your Notify Bell.
Important information regarding the Permission Message and the Notify Bell.
The Permission Message is a personalized message that will be displayed to users before triggering the browser's notification permission request. It primarily serves to inform users of the benefits of subscribing to the site's push notifications. Additionally, the Permission message is considered a "soft request," meaning that if the user declines it, you will still have the opportunity to present the option later (through the Notify Bell, for example), whereas if the user denies the browser's permission request, you will no longer be able to ask them again unless they go through several steps to reactivate the permissions.
The Notify Bell is a widget that appears at any time at the bottom of your site. If the user clicks on this widget, the browser's permission request will be displayed.
Step 1: Customization of the Permission Message.
This step will allow you to customize various elements of your message:
- First, start with the display delay of your message: we recommend a minimum delay of 2000 milliseconds to give your visitors time to explore the content of your site before deciding whether they wish to subscribe to your notifications.
- You can also change the text of the message, as well as the text for the accept and decline buttons. It is recommended that you fill in these texts in all the available languages of your store; otherwise, the default message in English from OneSignal will be displayed.
Note: for better display, the number of characters is limited to 90 for the message and to 15 for the buttons.
Step 2: the customization of the Notify Bell
In this step, you will have the opportunity to customize your Notify Bell:
- First, choose a size of the Notify Bell that suits your shop. 3 options are offered to you: Small, Medium, or Large.
- You will also have the choice of the position of the Notify Bell on your site: at the bottom left or at the bottom right of the page.
- Would you like to customize its colors?
Image Manager Tab
In this tab, you will have the opportunity to upload your icons and images and use them later for your notifications. Upon your arrival in this tab, you will find a summary table of all your icons and images, along with their type (icon or image), their date of addition, and the action buttons.
To add a new icon/image, please click on the button located at the top of the table.
- Please begin by indicating the type of your image: is it an icon or a larger-sized image? It should be noted that the icon will be displayed in your notification across all browser versions, while the larger image will only be displayed in Chrome versions 56 and above.
- Next, upload an image from your computer and rename it if you wish; this name will only be visible in your back office.
- Click on the Save button to retain your image in the module and have it appear on the summary table.
Notifications Manager Tab
In this tab, you will find a summary table of your notifications with their main information: their status (sent or pending), the sending option, and their audience.
To create a new web push notification, please click on the button located at the bottom right of the table. The creation of a new notification consists of 4 steps:
Step 1: choosing the audience.
This first step will allow you to choose the audience to whom you wish to send your messages.
- Please enter the name of your notification in this tab; this name is only visible in your back office.
- Regarding the choice of audience, you can send notifications to all users who have subscribed to notifications from your store or only to a specific segment of users.
OneSignal offers by default 3 user segments:
- Active users whose last session was within the last week (168 hours)
- Engaged users whose last session was within the last week (168 hours) and whose number of sessions is greater than 4
- Inactive users whose last session was more than a week ago
If you wish to add additional criteria for these segments or create new segment(s), we invite you to visit your OneSignal account. Many criteria are proposed for the creation of your user segments, including: the first and last session, the user's device language, the operating system of their device, etc.
Step 2: customizing the content of the notification
In this second step, you can customize the title of your notification and the message sent to users. We recommend that you fill in these texts in all the languages of your store, among which English is mandatory: the notification in English will be displayed if the system cannot detect any other language suitable for the users' browser.
Step 3: Choosing Options To animate your notifications and encourage more users:
- You will be able to choose from the icons and images that you have uploaded in the Image Manager tab those that you wish.
- It is also possible for you to make the notification clickable by adding a redirect link to a page of your choice.
Step 4: Scheduling the Sending of the Notification
The final step in creating a notification is to define its sending option. 2 options are offered to you:
- Immediate sending
- Deferred sending: if this option is chosen, we invite you to indicate in the dedicated fields the date and time of sending your notification.
